Accounts Apprentice

We have an exciting opportunity for a School Leaver to join our busy team at our office in Patrington as an Accounts Apprentice. This position offers an excellent career progression route in Accountancy for the right person.

Apprenticeship Summary

Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

Total hours per week: 35

Roles & Responsibilities

The successful candidate would provide support and assistance to the team. Duties would include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with aspects of bookkeeping, accounts preparation and cloud applications
  • Assist with processing weekly and monthly payroll
  • Obtain client information for input on to software
  • Dealing with emails
  • Answering telephone calls and taking messages to relay to colleagues
  • Attend to incoming visitors
  • Filing, photocopying and scanning
  • General office duties

The apprentice will take on further Accounts duties over time.

Desired Skills

  • A good level of IT understanding with experience of Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Have a good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Clear and confident telephone manner
  • Can prioritise workload and have good timekeeping skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Personal Qualities

  • Have a genuine interest in a career in Accountancy
  • Willing to learn
  • Good presentation

Training

  • The successful candidate will be expected to study towards the AAT qualification commencing in September 2019 with a local training provider
  • Internal training will also be given on various accounting applications

Desired Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 4 or above (Grade C equivalent) in Maths and English
